ADHD, or Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, is a neurodevelopmental disorder that affects both children and adults. It is characterized by patterns of inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity that interfere with functioning or development. People with ADHD may have difficulty focusing, controlling impulses, and managing time, which can affect academic, occupational, and social environments. ADHD is one of the most common mental disorders among children and is also diagnosed in adults. According to the CDC, about 6.1 million children in the U.S. (9.4% of children) have been diagnosed with ADHD.
